I saw in a Lexington Herald-Leader preview story on the UK baseball team that Cory Farris is in the running for one of the corner outfield spots. Cory was a catcher at Boone County HS. He was drafted by the White Sox and I understand they ended up trying pretty hard to sign him. He chose to go to school and play for the Wildcats. UK opens its season under first-year head coach Gary Henderson Feb. 20-22 in Coastal Carolina's four-team tournament.

It appears as though Adam Dunn has finally found a new home. Reports say he has signed a two-year deal with the Washington Nationals and his former GM with the Reds, Jim Bowden. That means Dunn and Austin Kearns will be reunited. Five years ago, who could have envisioned what's happened with the two guys who were the future of the Reds at the time?

It's interesting to note that Trevor Hoffman was in the Cincinnati Reds' farm system until he was left unprotected for the MLB expansion draft of November,1992. The Florida Marlins and Colorado Rockies both took part in that draft to help stock their systems prior to beginning play in the National League in the 1993 season.
